Silicon carbide

Product specification
Reusable synthetic abrasive material. Sharp-edged grains. Hardness on the Mohs scale: exceeding 9. The most aggressive synthetic abrasive media for general use, displaying top cutting ability.
Silicon carbide is the compound of silicon and carbon, produced at the temperature of ca. 2400 C, of the formula corresponding to SiC. It is the compound of high hardness and mechanical strength, exceptionally high heat and electric conductivities, as well as high resistance to thermal shock and oxidizing impact of the air.
Depending on SiC, iron and carbon contents, as well as crystal structure, the following types may be distinguished:
  • black silicon carbide
  • green silicon carbide
  • metallurgical silicon carbide

  • Typical chemical composition
    SiC> 97 %
    wolne C< 0,4 %
    wolne Si< 1 %
